The chairman of the FDP Party in Germany and the leading candidate for the position of Chancellor, Christian Lindner, has faced a delicate situation during an election meeting.

During his speech, a cake was thrown at him by a left-wing activist.

She hit the former Minister of Finance directly in the face.

The chairman of the Left Party in Germany confirmed to the media that the young woman belongs to his party. Several members of the Left youth organization demonstrated in front of the premises against the FDP's policies.

A local FDP spokeswoman and an eyewitness said it was a pseudo-cake made of shaving cream.

"Unfortunately it wasn't cream, just soap," Lindner said.

"At least they could have done this better, then I would have benefited from it," Lindner emphasized, as he wiped his face with a napkin.
