Powerful explosion at an explosives factory in Tennessee, USA, reports of casualties and 19 missing

US authorities say several people have died and several others remain missing after a powerful explosion at an explosives factory in Tennessee.

Local officials said "multiple" people have lost their lives after a massive explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems plant near Bucksnort just before 8am local time.

A Humphrey County Emergency Management official said at least 19 people are missing and that many more have been hospitalized.

The company, according to its website, "is committed to the development, production, handling and storage of high-quality energy products used in both defense and commercial markets."
