China executes 61-year-old woman for selling 17 children, including her own son

China has executed Yu Huai, 61, who, along with accomplices, kidnapped and sold 17 children, including her own son, the Supreme Procuratorate of China announced.

A court in Guizhou province sentenced Yu to death in October.

"After the Supreme People's Court upheld the death sentence, the second-instance court in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, executed Yu Huai on February 28," the court said in a statement, RIA Novosti reported.

The court found that from 1993 to 2003, Yu Huain, along with accomplices, kidnapped 17 children from Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, as well as Chongqing city, and sold them in Hebei province, Xinhua reported earlier.

The Xinjiang Bao newspaper reported that Yu was indifferent to the victims and showed no remorse during the trial.

The first child Yu sold was her son, and she had been arrested before, but was sentenced to eight years at the time.
