The European Union welcomed the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutor's Office to indict dozens of suspects for organizing the armed attack on the Kosovo Police in Banjska, Zveçani.
The spokesperson of the bloc, Peter Stano, said that the persons responsible for the event of September 24, where a Kosovar policeman was killed, will face consequences after the judiciary in Kosovo announces the decision against them.
"The EU has repeatedly called on Serbia to bring all the people involved in this brutal attack to justice. The filing of the indictment means that the court proceedings will now be able to start and we expect to see the conclusion of this process", says Stano.
Asked if Banjska was the topic of the meeting that the EU ambassador in Belgrade had today with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, Stano replied that the EU has repeatedly conveyed the same request to Serbia, that it fully cooperate with the investigations.
"We don't need special meetings to convey the positions of the EU. They are known and have been repeated several times. We expect Serbia to cooperate in the investigation of this case and, also, to make the persons involved responsible. We have conveyed this to the authorities of Serbia several times", he adds.
Diplomatic sources within the European bloc confess that some countries have raised their voices and complained about the fact that Belgrade has not done anything to bring these people to justice for the Banjska attack, even though it is well known that they are on the territory of Serbia.
