In Serbia, the government has decided to apply drastic price reductions for urban and interurban transport up to free for all citizens in certain bands.
Thus, during night hours, public transport will be free for all citizens without exception, including tourists on all lines.
In Belgrade, public transport operates 24 hours a day. Throughout the 24 hours, many categories such as students, minors, the elderly, the poor and those with health problems also benefit from free or reduced-price transport.
The price reduction is drastic compared to the previous way of charging transport, where it was necessary to pay 750 dinars for a day ticket in all areas.
The new urban transport system, which is called "Belgrade plus", began to be valid from May 2023 and daily tickets now cost only 120 dinars or 1 euro (1 Serbian dinar is exchanged for 0.97 lek).
Authorities said that 90-minute tickets valid for all lines cost 50 dinars.
While for the whole day (24 hours), only 120 dinars. Meanwhile, a weekly ticket (7 days) is paid no more than 800 dinars. A monthly ticket costs 2200 dinars.
