The chairman of the US Senate Intelligence Committee, Tom Cotton, warned that Iran could be just months away from creating what he called an "impenetrable shield" of defense.
According to Cotton, Tehran possesses "thousands and thousands of missiles," an arsenal that he says exceeds the combined missile defense capabilities of the United States, Israel, and their allies in the region.
The statements were made during an event organized by National Review and the Republican Jewish Coalition.
The Republican senator said that such a shield would allow Iran to continue advancing its nuclear program, while protecting itself from potential attacks by adversaries.
