A young girl from the city of Bucha in Ukraine, Tatiana Sichkar, has told how her mother was shot dead while the city was under Russian occupation.

Speaking to Sky News she said her family had been returning from grandma's house at the time and they were wearing clothes that meant they were civilians.

Without warning, she heard a "very strong gunshot."

"I saw something flying from the back of my mother's head. "It was so fast that I did not understand anything," she said. 

Sichkar said she saw her mother knocked down and she and father sat on the ground.

She tried to call her mother but had no answer.

The girl said that when she saw her mother, there was blood all over her face.

"I tried to shake her hand but she did not react," she said. 

The girl said she wants her mother's death to be investigated as a possible war crime.
