Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied that the drone that hit a 10-story building in the Romanian town of Galati, near the border with Moldova and Ukraine, was launched from Russia.

Russian news agencies, citing the Kremlin leader, report that the drone may have been launched from Ukraine.

"No one can say who the drone that crashed over Romania belonged to until experts have examined the wreckage. It could have been a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle that deviated from its trajectory due to electronic protection or a lack of data ," the Kremlin chief was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Earlier, media reported that a Moscow drone, launched during a wave of bombings against Ukraine, fell in a populated area in neighboring Romania.

The drone hit a 10-story building in the town of Galati, near the border with Moldova and Ukraine, causing an explosion and fire. At least 2 people were injured and 7 were evacuated.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also reacted strongly to this, saying that the alliance remains ready to defend every inch of territory and that Russia's irresponsible behavior poses a danger to everyone.
