'Get out, I killed you', Colombian tourist in Rome is raped for 3 days

" If you run away, I'll kill you ," the threat came when Mariana (pseudonym) had been having a nightmare for hours.

Kidnapped in the heart of Rome, numbed by a mixture of water and heroin, dragged into a van and locked in an abandoned building on the eastern outskirts of the city.

Five men surrounded her, who raped her for three days in a row.

The 32-year-old arrived in Rome from Colombia on May 16. She wanted to visit the city's beauties, but instead ended up in hell.

She settled, together with a friend, in a hostel near Termini station. On May 17, she went to dinner at a restaurant not far away, where she met a boy who offered to keep her company.

Then came the trick: instead of a hashish cigarette, he made her get into a van with other men, who were being sought by the police. They kidnapped her. No ransom demand. The van sped off towards Tor Sapienza.

The destination was a giant abandoned building, among bare walls, concrete pillars and dark rooms inhabited by drug dealers and desperate people. It was there that Mariana's tracks were lost for 72 hours, until May 19, the day of her escape.

Saidykhan Lamin, Harouna Traore, Karamba Kanteh, Isibor Wisdom and Paul Nwabueze, Gambians, Nigerians and Malians in hiding, writes the preliminary investigation judge, are now in the Regina Coeli prison. The charges brought by deputy prosecutor Maurizio Arcuri and prosecutor Vittoria Petronella are very serious: sexual violence, wounding and hostage-taking.

Doctors have determined that the injuries were from sexual violence. The woman's story brings back all the horror of those days:

"They forced me to undress. One of them tore my clothes off my body and abused me, then another man came and immediately after him a third. They kept repeating to me: 'Get out, we'll kill you.' No one wanted to help him.

"Not even a blonde girl I met in there. I didn't want to eat anything," she explains. They gave me three cigarettes. I kept asking to leave, but they told me to take drugs to feel better."

After almost 48 hours of abuse, Mariana managed to sleep. “Then,” her story continued, “they transferred me to another place, where two men raped me in turn. In the end, I managed to escape.”

Mariana ran towards a balcony.

"I jumped down as I heard someone getting a gun ready," she continues. "Then I jumped over a perimeter wall and ran into the street."

A boy stopped to give him first aid, thus setting the investigation in motion.

The defense objected to the reconstruction of the event by the victim. “It remains to be verified the credibility of the injured person and the material used to identify the suspects,” said lawyer Renato Raineri. “The woman,” underlined lawyer Giuseppe Donadio. “has given three different versions.

Furthermore, a witness says she saw him near the building more than a month before the events."

During the operation in the building where the 32-year-old was allegedly held, the police identified a total of 22 clandestine residents. Administrative eviction procedures have been initiated for 11 of them, including the five arrested men who the victim identified as the perpetrators of the abuse./ La Repubblica
