On the eve of the elections, the incumbent government led by Albin Kurti has approved the Inflation Package 2.0.
Through this package, 100 euros are allocated to several categories.
"One-time support of 100 euros for pensioners, one-time support of 100 euros for children, one-time support of 100 euros for non-public sector workers, one-time support of 100 euros for active students," the acting prime minister announced at the government meeting.
Kurti added that starting next week, 100 euros will be administered to pensioners and children, while students and private sector workers will need to complete an application procedure to benefit.
Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati has explained the criteria for being a beneficiary of the new scheme.
"One-time support for beneficiaries of pension schemes according to the payment list of May of this year, for one-time support for all children who are part of the child allowance scheme, for all employees declared in April with a monthly income of less than one thousand euros who are not on the payroll paid from the state budget, so here is the private sector and the public sector that is outside of budgetary organizations", declared Murati.
The incumbent government has decided to increase maternity benefits to 500 euros starting this month.
"From this month, we will increase maternity allowances. While under previous governments, maternity allowances were zero, for the first time we started by paying 170 euros for 6 months for unemployed mothers and three months for employed mothers. We started the allowances at the same level as the minimum wage, and in May last year we increased them to 325 euros. This year, we increased the minimum wage again, from July 1st it will be 500 euros. This May, we are also increasing maternity allowances, from 325 to 500 euros per month," Kurti declared.
