On Mango's official website, Jonathan Andic's profile is accompanied by his title, vice president of the board of directors, and a photo of him almost smiling.
This photo stands in stark contrast to the images that made the rounds around the world, where the son of the powerful founder of the clothing company, Isak Andic, walks with his head down among the police.
Authorities, who considered him a suspect in the murder of his father, who fell from a 100-meter-deep abyss during a hike with his son on December 14, 2024 on Montserrat Mountain, yesterday proceeded with his arrest.
The arrest came after months of police investigations to gather evidence, while the judge in Martorell who is handling the case ordered his temporary detention. However, he gave him the option of not spending a single day in jail by setting a bail of 1 million euros, so the eldest son of the man who built an empire went free, at least for the time being.

From Switzerland to America
The Andic family fully supports him, despite the authorities' accusations, and through its representatives, according to the newspaper El Pais, stated that it is convinced that "there is no legal evidence against him and no evidence will be found" and that "his innocence is absolute."
However, nothing should be considered safe for the child who was born in 1981 and grew up in a family environment that offered him everything, even though Mango did not yet exist.
Growing up, he attended several schools, including the Swiss boarding school Beau Soleil, which accepts students from 11 to 18 years old, located at an altitude of 1,350 meters in the village of Villars-sur-Ollon. Jonathan Andic then studied audiovisual communication in America and completed his studies in Spain, at IESE Business School in Barcelona, focusing on economics and business management.
Despite his parents' divorce, he maintained close relationships with his two sisters, Judith and Sara, as well as his mother, who took on certain roles in the company.
But his role was the most difficult.
Succession, responsibilities and conflict
Isak Andic's eldest son joined Mango in 2005 as an executive director, at the age of 24, gradually moving into different departments of the company and working on collection design, the creative process and management.
After two years of experience, he was entrusted with the launch of Mango's first men's collection and overseeing its development worldwide. He worked hard and by 2024 the company's men's collections had 600 points of sale in 90 international markets and contributed 12% of the annual turnover of the empire that started with one store in Barcelona and reached 2,700 stores in 110 countries.
Since 2012, the successor has been a member of the company's board of directors and in 2014 took over from his father, along with his responsibilities. However, he did not enjoy this position for long. Isak Andic practically took over the company's management, which, according to Spanish media, caused a clash between father and son, which in recent years seemed to have subsided.
But then came that fateful last walk of father and son in the caves of Montserrat and the former's fall from a height of 100 meters, which caused the billionaire's instant death.
It was initially considered an accident, but authorities found serious contradictions in the heir's testimony and on Tuesday morning proceeded with his arrest, opening a new chapter in the case.
A chapter that, at least for now, no one knows how it will end.
