Andrea Giambruno, the journalist who for 7 years has been the partner of the leader of the "Fratelli d'Italia" party, who is expected to be the next prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has reacted after being labeled in the media as having leftist beliefs or that he is in favor of the legalization of cannabis, marriages of same-sex couples, etc.
Asked during an interview if he should be called: "First Husband", "First Gentleman" or "First Partner?", he answered: "I don't know. But there is no label similar to First Lady for men. Let's wait for a new neologism".
Giambruno said it was just a joke that Giorgia called her a leftist.
"It was a joke: I'm not a leftist, we just have different opinions on some ethical issues, such as assisted suicide. I think the state should reflect on whether it's right for a person to die at home, with family members or is forced to go and die in Switzerland. We both discuss sensitive issues that I understand politics must face a different responsibility than me, who only has my personal opinion," he said.
Asked how the discussions on LGBTQ+ rights, drug legalization and abortion are, he says: "There is no discussion on abortion: you will not find a line in which Giorgia contests 194. For the rest there is no debate, we talk and everyone justifies his position".
Law 194 allows the voluntary termination of pregnancy within the first 90 days, for health, economic, family and social reasons.
