Miracle in Venezuela, 11-year-old boy pulled alive from rubble after 72 hours

An 11-year-old boy has been pulled alive from the rubble in Venezuela, more than 72 hours after two devastating earthquakes struck the country, bringing a ray of hope amid a tragic toll that continues to mount.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced that the boy was rescued in the Caraballeda area, one of the hardest hit by the 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes that shook the north of the country.

"A few minutes ago, an 11-year-old was rescued alive in Caraballeda. Every life saved is a source of hope for Venezuela," Rodríguez wrote on the social network X, also publishing footage of the rescue operation.

Meanwhile, authorities have announced that the number of victims has reached 1,430, while over 3,200 people have been injured. According to the United Nations, more than 50,000 people are still missing, which suggests that the toll could rise significantly in the coming days.

Search and rescue operations continue in extremely difficult conditions, while international teams from at least 17 countries are engaged in the most affected areas.

Residents of the affected cities have denounced the lack of state support during the first hours after the disaster, claiming that most of the searches were carried out by volunteers and family members with improvised means.

Meanwhile, international humanitarian aid has begun to arrive in Venezuela, while authorities warn that the biggest challenge remains finding survivors before the critical rescue window after the earthquakes closes.
