Over 200 drones and 30 missiles, the balance is weighed down by Russian attacks

Five people have lost their lives overnight in Ukraine and Russia as a result of intensive drone and missile exchanges between the two countries, while attempts at a ceasefire continue to fail.

Ukrainian officials confirmed that Russia fired over 200 drones and about 30 missiles, hitting mainly the Dnipropetrovsk region, where three people were killed and six others wounded. In Russia, local authorities in Rostov announced that two people died after a Ukrainian drone attack that engulfed a burning car.

The attacks occurred in parallel with updates from both sides on developments at the front. Russia stated that it has taken control of two villages - Zelenyi Hai in Donetsk and Maliivka in Dnipropetrovsk. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his forces are gradually pushing Russian troops out of the Sumy region, including the liberation of the village of Kindrativka.

Zelensky emphasized on the X network that Ukrainian drone attacks on military bases and airports in Russia are a response to aggression, calling them "arguments that bring peace closer".

Meanwhile, a shopping mall, a residential block and an industrial zone were damaged in the city of Dnipro, while published footage showed cars and burned buildings.

Despite the attacks, diplomatic peace efforts remain unsuccessful. The third round of ceasefire talks took place in Istanbul on Wednesday but did not bring any progress. Both sides were mutually accused of rejecting each other's proposals.
