Congress officially certified Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 US presidential election.

The counting of electoral votes took place calmly and without objections or problems in the hall, unlike what happened 4 years ago.

Ironically, the certification of the result was announced by Vice President Kamala Harris, who was defeated by Trump in the November election.

"The votes for president of the United States are as follows: Donald J Trump of the state of Florida received 312 votes. Kamala D Harris of the state of California received 226 votes," she said, reading the result.

After her speech, loud applause erupted from Republicans.

Under American law, this declaration is considered final in legal terms, thus declaring the president and vice president-elect.

Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, won 312 electoral votes. Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, received 226 electoral votes.

January 20th is now awaited, the day when Trump will be inaugurated as president of the United States.
