A macabre murder committed for an unjustifiable motive is that of 18-year-old Egyptian-born Mahmoud Abdalla, which has shocked the town of Kiavari in Genoa.
Italian media reported yesterday that the young man's body was found hidden inside a suitcase, after he had previously been slaughtered with a knife and cut into pieces.
The mutilated body of the victim was found thrown into the course of the Entella river, and two of his colleagues, Abdelwahab Ahmed Gamal Kamel, 27, and Mohamed Ali Abdelghani Ali, were arrested for the incident.
The two compatriots killed the 18-year-old just because he had decided to quit working as a barber in their business, where he was not earning enough money to help his parents who had remained in Egypt.
After the Italian police found the dead body of the young man, who came out on the river bank, it took seven hours of interrogation to find out the reason for Mahmoud Abdalla's murder.
The two killers were the owners of the young man at the "Aly Barber Shop". They tried to blame each other for killing the young man, but something they agree on is the motive why the crime happened, and that is "the fear that, by leaving the job, he would also take the clientele".
The 18-year-old, who had been living in the back room of the store with other employees for several months, had decided to leave. He had found better work and did not want to miss the opportunity that would not only allow him to have a higher salary, but also to succeed among the many Egyptian barbers working in the Genoese city.
But his owners, having seen the increased interest of customers in their salon for the young barber, first tried to threaten the owner of the competing barbershop where the young man would work, and when the pressure on him did not work, they decided to take his life the young man.
They asked the young man to join them in the back room of the shop and after an argument, they took a knife and stabbed him in the heart, liver and stomach.
After the young man died, they put the body in a suitcase and took it by taxi to Chiavari, where they dismembered the body on the beach, not far from the mouth of the river, first cutting off the head and then the hands and throwing the bones into the sea .
The taxi driver told the carabinieri about the trip, saying: "They had two heavy suitcases, I asked them to lift them."
The two Egyptians were also captured by security cameras on the streets of Genoa, shortly after 3 am on Monday, July 24, carrying their bags with difficulty on their shoulders in an attempt to reach the beach of Chiavari.
