Council of Albanian Ambassadors: The situation of Albanians in the Presheva

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors sends a letter to the Council of Europe: The situation of Albanians in the Presheva Valley is critical

KASH has sent a letter to the Council of Europe (CoE), through which it expresses concern that the situation of Albanians in the Presheva Valley is critical and alarming.

In the letter sent to the Council of Europe, the problems and concerns of the Albanian population in Presheva were laid out, where, according to the Council of Albanian Ambassadors, the implementation of laws in this area is extremely discriminatory, carried out only to the detriment of the Albanian minority.

The letter states that the passivation of addresses not only has direct negative consequences on the daily life of Albanians, but also leads to the depopulation of the Valley by Albanians and the removal of the right to vote.

There are thousands of Albanians from the Valley, whose right to vote and residence have already been removed from the state civil registers of Serbia.

"A modern ethnic cleansing is rightly called the passivation of addresses, which is carried out by law and which enables the Serbian state authorities to deregister from the civil register the inhabitants of the Valley, who are not in their homes at a certain time", it is said on paper.

According to KASH, all of the above have led to a modern ethnic cleansing, ethnic discrimination and violence, especially against the Albanian minority living in their own lands, unprecedented even for Serbia itself, as evidenced by the latest report of the US Department of the State, but also in the reports and studies of the Helsinki Committee of Serbia.
