"After today's terrorist attack, there are no other alternatives than the physical elimination of Zelenskiy." The threat comes from the vice-president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev.
"It is not even necessary to sign the act of unconditional surrender. Even Hitler, as you know, did not sign it," Medvedev said on Telegram.
The Russian presidency reported that Ukraine attempted to strike the Russian president's residence in the Kremlin overnight with a drone. President Putin was not present at the time of the attack.
Moscow spoke of a terrorist attempt to kill the president and announced that it would take retaliatory measures. The drones were destroyed by electronic air defense systems, but some fragments fell within the territory of the presidential complex, causing no injuries.
Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has blamed Russia for fabricating the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin.
"We are not attacking Putin or Moscow, we are fighting on our territory, we are defending our villages and cities," Zelensky said during a press conference today in Helsinki.
The Ukrainian leader added that the Kremlin was using history to motivate its soldiers to continue its fight against Kiev.
Videos of an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin had been surfacing throughout the night.
Moscow had described it as an "assassination attempt" against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
