Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, has made another strange statement, expressing his desire to die on Mars.
He first made this comment in 2013 during an event at South by Southwest, and more than a decade later, he still stands by it.
Musk, known for his bold ideas and long-term vision, has further revealed his thoughts on the future of humanity and space travel. He explained that the sun is expanding and that in a few hundred million years, Earth will become uninhabitable.
According to him, space travel is one of the main ways to ensure the survival of humanity.
"The sun is gradually expanding and, after 500 million years, possibly a billion, the oceans will boil and there will be no significant life on Earth. Maybe some bacteria that can survive very high temperatures, but nothing that can build rockets, " Musk said.
According to him, space travel is the solution that will save humanity.
"Space travel is the best opportunity we have to preserve human life."
For Musk, interplanetary travel is not just about saving humanity from potential cosmic catastrophes, but also about creating a better and more exciting future.
"A civilization that travels into space is a civilization that has faith in the future. Nothing can be more exciting than being part of the stars."
Musk is also working to realize this vision.
According to recent reports, SpaceX plans to send its Starship rocket to Mars by the end of next year, with Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus, among the first passengers. If the mission is successful, Musk hopes that humans could land on Mars by 2029-2031.
However, Musk has acknowledged that life on Mars will be a huge challenge. With no oxygen, extreme temperatures and harmful radiation, he has described it as a "death trap."
"It's a long journey and you may not return alive," he said, acknowledging the difficulties of this ambitious plan.
