More than 100 people have lost their lives after the rockets fired in series from the Gaza Strip towards Israel on Saturday morning and about 1 thousand people have been injured.

The unprecedented and well-orchestrated attack by land, sea and air paralyzed sophisticated Israeli intelligence by taking it by surprise. Militants infiltrated Israeli border towns, killing civilians and soldiers and taking dozens of hostages.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said in a video message to the nation that they were under unprecedented attack from the war that had begun and promised swift revenge.

Revenge against Hamas was not long in coming. A barrage of rockets hit suspected Hamas positions in Gaza, killing at least 200 and wounding hundreds.

The group that runs the besieged enclave said its operation was in response to the desecration of the Al-Aqsa mosque and increased violence by the occupiers.

They claim to have captured dozens of Israeli prisoners, civilians and senior military personnel. The deputy head of Hamas told Al Jazeera that they intend to release all Palestinians imprisoned in Israel through the captured hostages. They warned that the longer the fighting continues, the higher the number of hostages will be.

International analysts say that the dramatic hours that the Middle East is experiencing will change the game in the region and will change greatly from the strategic military and political calculations of the Palestinians and Israelis, as well as most of the countries involved in this region.
