US President Joe Biden stated that he told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in their phone call earlier today, "we are ready to provide all appropriate means of support to the government and people of Israel."
"Terrorism is never justified. Israel has the right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking benefits in this situation. My administration's support for Israel's security is strong and unwavering ," Biden said in a statement condemning Hamas' surprise attack this morning in southern and central Israel.
The news was announced by the head of the White House, citing the press release.
"Jill and I are praying for all the families who have been hurt by this violence. We are heartbroken by the lives tragically cut short and hope for a speedy recovery for all those injured," he added. "My team and I are following this situation closely and I will remain in close contact with Prime Minister Netanyahu."
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has reacted to recent developments in the southern Israeli regions by condemning Hamas' attacks against Israel.
"We unequivocally condemn the horrific attacks by Hamas terrorists against Israel. We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Israel and express our condolences for the Israeli lives lost in these attacks ," the US diplomat said.
The White House said earlier that US President Joe Biden has been briefed by senior national security officials about Hamas' ongoing air and ground attack on cities in southern and central Israel.
"The president will continue to receive updates and White House officials remain in close contact with Israeli partners ," the White House Press Office said in a statement.
