Israel: We have launched air strikes in northern Iran for the first time
Attacks on Iran

The Israeli military says it has begun airstrikes on targets in northern Iran.

"A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force, acting on intelligence from the Navy and the IDF, began striking targets in northern Iran for the first time ," it said in a short message on its official Telegram channel.

While Saudi Arabia declared tonight that it is "thwarting an attempt to attack one of the gas facilities in the eastern region with a second drone."

This comes after reports that five drones were destroyed while trying to approach energy facilities in the same region.

Elsewhere near the capital Riyadh, Saudi Arabian authorities say four residents were injured by falling shrapnel after a ballistic missile was intercepted.
