The Israeli Air Force has reportedly eliminated Izz al-Din Haddad, Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip and commander of the Al-Qassam Brigades, in an airstrike in Gaza.

This was stated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz in a joint statement.

According to Palestinian media, the attack hit a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood.

A senior Israeli security official, quoted by The Times of Israel, stated that there are "initial indications" that the Hamas leader may have been killed in the attack.

Netanyahu and Katz said they had ordered the assassination of Haddad, commander of the terrorist group's military wing and "one of the architects of the October 7 massacre."

“Haddad has been responsible for the killing, kidnapping and wounding of thousands of Israeli civilians and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers.

"He has held our civilians hostage in brutal conditions of captivity, directed terrorist operations against our forces, and refused to implement the agreement led by US President Trump to disarm Hamas and demilitarize the Gaza Strip," the statement said.
