Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic has been hospitalized in serious condition after being diagnosed with severe bilateral pneumonia.

He was taken to the clinic late Wednesday afternoon with serious breathing problems and is currently intubated, breathing with the help of equipment.

According to the clinic's official announcement, after medical examinations, Dacic was diagnosed with severe pneumonia in both lungs and was immediately placed on mechanical ventilation. His condition is described as particularly serious.

The attending physician, Spasoje Popevic, stressed that the situation is critical. "He is on a ventilator and has been administered all the necessary medications. We are trying to ensure the necessary time for the therapy to take effect. We are fighting for his life," he declared.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the clinic overnight to get up-to-date information on the minister's health condition.

Ivica Dacic is one of the most prominent figures in Serbian politics, with a long career and a leading role in the Socialist Party of Serbia. The news of his hospitalization has caused reactions and concern in the country's political scene.
