The former Miss England, Jennifer Young, risks being sentenced to 20 years in prison in Mexico after being accused of drug trafficking. The Daily Mail writes that the 33-year-old tried to smuggle the drug ketamine worth 250,000 pounds.

She had left in August last year from Amsterdam airport to Cancun, where she was stopped by the police with 13 kilograms of drugs hidden in her suitcase.

Young spent about six months in an overcrowded jail in Cancun before being transferred to another Mexico City jail in February. For months, her mother knew nothing about the girl, while only in the last few days she learned the truth.

"Wherever she was in the world, she would have wished me a happy birthday in March. I was worried and after a few messages with her friend I learned the truth. I'm still shocked. I knew that Jennifer was in Mexico, but I knew that she was traveling. She has been accused of drug trafficking and now risks 20 years in prison," said Jennifer Young's mother to the Daily Mail.

Jennifer Young was born in Germany, her mother is British, while her father is German. She left the city of Derby in England in 2019 and since then she has been on the move in different countries of the world.
