Iran has ordered its military to prepare scenarios for an attack in case Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu gives the green light for his forces to strike key Islamic State targets in retaliation for the October 1 rockets.
Iranian officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told US media that Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has told the armed forces to prepare several scenarios that will be implemented depending on the severity of Israel's attack.
If Israel's attack could cause heavy casualties then there will be a strong response from Tehran, the officials said, adding that there may be no response at all if the attack is limited to military compounds.
According to the data, Israel's focus is various oil refineries and nuclear sites of economic and strategic value to Iran.
