The trial for the sensational murder of 30-year-old Liridona Ademaj began today at the Basic Court.

Liridona's family said they believe in justice and hope that the trial will be "efficient, professional, error-free, without delays and transparent."

Almost two weeks ago, the Prosecution announced the official filing of indictments against four people for the murder of Ademaj, on November 29, 2023, in the Kosovo capital.

The incident, initially reported as a robbery, raised many suspicions and huge reactions from the public. Two days later, authorities arrested two people. Among them was Liridona's husband, Naim Murseli.

The latter is shown entering the courtroom very calmly and without any expression on his face, being escorted under heavy security measures.

The prosecution accused Murseli of the criminal offense of "complicity in murder", Granit Plava of the offense of "murder" and Kushtrim Kokalla of the offense of "agreement to commit murder".

The identity of the fourth accused was not disclosed under the reasoning that "it is not ethical since he was not directly involved in the murder."
