After a few milder days to end last week, an outbreak in the Arctic is moving south and will affect the entire North American continent.
This inauguration is expected to be the coldest in 40 years.
Today Washington DC is forecast to have temperatures of -4 degrees Celsius, but are expected to reach a maximum of -13 degrees Celsius.
That makes it the coldest inauguration since 1985, which was the coldest on record, when the high temperature was just -8 degrees Celsius and the midday temperature just -14 degrees Celsius.
Although it snowed over the weekend, the following day is expected to be dry with sunny weather.
