Hamas has a new "enemy"/ Fierce fighting, 30 dead over the weekend!

Nearly 30 people have been killed in fierce clashes that erupted in Gaza City between Hamas forces and armed members of the Dughmush family , in what is considered one of the most violent internal confrontations since the end of major Israeli operations in the enclave.

The BBC quotes eyewitnesses as claiming that masked Hamas members exchanged fire with fighters from the clan in question near a hospital in the city. 

A senior Hamas-run interior ministry official said their security units had surrounded the clan members, with whom they engaged in fierce fighting.

Medical sources spoke of 19 killed from the Dughmush clan and eight from Hamas ranks since Saturday, when the fighting began.

Clashes erupted in the city's Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, sowing panic in the area.

“This time the residents weren’t running away from the Israeli attacks; they were running away from their own people,” said one witness. Both sides blame each other for instigating the fighting.

Reports from the ground indicate that Hamas has mobilized around 7,000 members of its security forces to reassert control over areas of Gaza recently liberated from Israeli troops, although it itself denies it is deploying " its fighters on the streets ."
