Israeli media have published moments from the first conversations of Israeli hostages with their families, after their release by Hamas.

Initially, they spoke on the phone with their relatives, where there were certainly tears of joy and strong emotions.

With tears in her eyes, Rom Braslfaski's mother saw her son after two years.

"I love you, you're coming home, the war is over," said the mother of released hostage Matar Angrist when she spoke to him for the first time in 738 days.

Everything is fine, calm down ,” Elkana Robot told his mother when he spoke to her for the first time after two years of the nightmare he experienced at the hands of Hamas.

Israel confirmed this morning that seven of the people kidnapped by Israel had been handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). A total of 20 hostages are expected to be released during the day.

After being handed over to the ICRC, the released hostages will be transferred to Israeli forces inside the Gaza Strip.

First meetings with relatives, medical care and opportunities to wash and change clothes are planned at the Reim military camp on the outskirts of the Gaza Strip.

Those affected will then be transported by plane to hospitals for further treatment.

In Israel, reports of the release of the first hostages held by Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip have caused immense relief and joy.

Thousands of people gathered in Hostage Square in central Tel Aviv erupted in celebrations this morning.

However, the Israeli military does not believe that Hamas, which is classified as a terrorist organization by many states, will be able to hand over all 28 dead hostages within the agreed 72-hour ceasefire.

The ceasefire took effect on Friday as part of a peace plan brokered by US President Donald Trump.

In exchange for the hostages' release, Israel will free around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners – including up to 250 who have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
