The media office of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip said on Wednesday that at least 20,000 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the war with Israel began.

About 8,000 children and 6,200 women are among the dead, the statement said, as the bitter conflict has already passed two months since it began on October 7.

According to the United Nations, almost 20,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7, about 70% of whom are thought to be women and children, and another 52,286 have been injured.

In the West Bank, 291 Palestinians have been killed, including 75 children killed by Israeli forces or Israeli settlers, the UN said.
