Shoshana Strook , 34, the daughter of Israel's Minister of National Missions, Orit Strook, was found dead overnight in her apartment in northern Israel. The minister herself confirmed the news.

The circumstances of her death remain unclear as police have launched an investigation into the case. Strock announced the news in a Facebook post, writing:

"It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Shoshana."

In recent months, Shoshana had spoken publicly about sexual abuse by her parents and ritual abuse she said she experienced during her childhood.

She published several posts on social media, describing being forced to participate in abuse and ritual ceremonies that included the use of drugs and hypnosis.

"From the age of two and a half, my parents took me to pedophile ceremonies where they programmed and trained me through drugs, hypnosis and sexual abuse," she said in a video posted in February.

In another post, Shoshana described how her father "sold" her to Tel Aviv from the age of 13, making money from her, and that the abuse continued even later.

In January, she also spoke about "conversion therapy" and other violent rituals she said she experienced while growing up.

"In recent days, memories of this therapy and the sadistic cult I grew up in have been constantly coming back to me," she wrote, adding that she often experienced flashbacks of the trauma and great anxiety about sharing her story.

Police reportedly have been unable to verify Shoshana's claims of sexual abuse, while details of the investigation remain unclear.

Women’s organizations in the country have called on the government to conduct a broader investigation, stressing that the police failed to protect her properly and that Shoshana did not receive adequate support. Bonot Alternativa, a women’s organization, urged the state to act: “The state’s duty is now clear: to investigate, examine and uncover the truth.”

A silent protest was held in memory of Shoshana in Zion Square in central Jerusalem. Organizers warned that they would demand “real change and justice for her and for all of us.” Participants held banners reading: “We believe in you, Shoshana.”

Shoshana's friend, Yael Shitrit, who has also stated that she was a victim of ritual sexual abuse, demanded that more be done.

"We talked to her that morning. She didn't want to die. She wanted a home and security. If this nation doesn't wake up, we're next," she said.

Following the announcement of Shoshana's death, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and ministers expressed condolences to Strock and her family.

The prime minister's office said he had spoken to Strock and "received with deep sadness" the news of her daughter's death.
