White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, US President Donald Trump announced.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that Wiles' prognosis is "excellent" and that she will continue to work in the White House.
"Her strength and dedication to continue the work she loves and is so good at, while undergoing treatment, says everything you need to know about her ," he wrote.
The US president did not specify how long Wiles' treatment is expected to last, nor did he provide further details about her diagnosis. However, he said she "has decided to face this challenge immediately, rather than wait."
"Soon it will be better than ever!" Donald Trump wrote.
"Susie Wiles is a great chief of staff, a great person and one of the strongest people I know. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and decided to face this challenge immediately, rather than wait."
She has a fantastic medical team and the prognosis is excellent. During her treatment, she will work almost entirely from the White House, which makes me, as president, very happy.
Her strength and dedication to continue doing the work she loves – and does so well – while undergoing treatment tells you everything you need to know about her.
Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is strongly and deeply committed to serving the American people. Soon, things will be better than ever.
"Melania and I stand by her in every way and look forward to continuing to work with her on the many great and important things that are happening for the good of our country," Trump wrote.
