France plans to ban disposable e-cigarettes, the country's prime minister, Elisabeth Borne, told RTL radio on Sunday.
"It is an important issue for public health", said Borne, adding that the Government is drawing up national programs to combat smoking, which, according to her, is responsible for 75,000 deaths in one year in France.
According to the prime minister, the so-called "puff" devices can create habits among young people, who can later become addicted to cigarettes.
However, she has mentioned that the French Government does not plan to increase taxes on cigarettes next year, after the increase this year, REL reports.
French President Emmanuel Macron published in 2021 some ambitious plans to combat cigarettes and alcohol, pledging to create more public spaces where cigarettes are not smoked and that 20-year-olds living in France in 2030 will not be consumers of cigarettes.
