A Boeing 737-800 model aircraft has crashed on the runway of Leeds Airport in England, while attempting to land as the area was engulfed by the storm.
According to the British media, the "TUI" passenger plane had departed from the Greek island of Corfu with about 100 passengers on board.
At the moment of landing, the plane skidded off the runway, ending up in a grassy field where the passengers were trapped for several minutes.
All flights in and out of the airport have been temporarily suspended, while some arrivals have been diverted to other airports, including Manchester.
Dozens of ambulances, multiple fire engines and West Yorkshire Rapid Response and Yorkshire Ambulance Services' hazardous area response team attended the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, "TUI" declared a few minutes ago.
A spokesman for Leeds Bradford Airport said: "We can confirm that TUI flight TOM3551 which arrived from Corfu to LBA this afternoon skidded off the runway during landing."
"We are working with the airline, relevant operations teams and emergency authorities to address this situation and remove passengers from the aircraft safely," he said.
