Suella Braverman sacked him from office, letter Rishi Sunak: Traitor! You failed

A day after being sacked as UK Home Secretary, Suella Braverman wrote a scathing letter to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, saying his response to the growing threat of radicalization in the country had been weak.

Braverman said she agreed to support Sunak because of the strong assurances he gave her about top priorities that included a reduction in overall legal migration. The former secretary of the interior said that for a year, she had sent numerous letters to the prime minister on the main topics, but they were met with disdain and lack of interest.

"You have clearly and repeatedly failed to meet each of these key policies. Or your particular governing style means you are unable to do so. Or, as I must now surely conclude, you never had any intention of keeping your promises. "Your rejection of this path was not just a betrayal of our agreement, but a betrayal of your promise to the nation that you would do 'whatever it takes' to stop the boats," Braverman wrote.

She also said Sunak had failed to contain anti-Semitic incidents in the UK following a brutal attack by Hamas on Israel.

"Another cause for frustration – and the context for my recent article in The Times – has been your failure to rise to the challenge posed by the increasingly virulent anti-Semitism and extremism on our streets since the terrorist atrocities of Hamas on October 7," Braverman wrote.

Braverman said she had asked Sunak to consider legislation to ban hate marches and help stem the "rising tide of racism, fear-mongering and terrorist glorification that threatens community cohesion."

"Britain is at a turning point in our history and faces a threat of radicalization and extremism in a way not seen for 20 years. I regret to say that your response has been uncertain, weak and lacking in the qualities of leadership that this country needs. Instead of fully acknowledging the severity of this threat, your team disagreed with me for weeks that the law needed to be changed. Someone needs to be honest: your plan isn't working, we've suffered record election losses, your resets have failed, and we're running out of time. You must change course urgently,” Braverman wrote.

Sunak sacked Braverman after she accused the city's police of being biased in their handling of pro-Palestinian rallies in London. She accused Sunak of going slow on many key promises made by the Conservative Party in its 2019 manifesto.
