A serious event happened yesterday in the North of Greece.

An 11-month-old baby was found dead in the river of Aliakmonas in Veria, near a dam. The death of the little girl was confirmed by the doctors of the Veria hospital, while the first suspicions indicate that the baby was thrown into the dam by her mother, who suffers from mental health problems.

As a result, the 29-year-old mother was arrested by Greek authorities.

Protothema.gr reports that it was the parents of the 29-year-old who reported the disappearance of their granddaughter to the police, after the 29-year-old returned home on New Year's Eve without the baby.

After the report to the police, the search for the 11-month-old baby began immediately, simultaneously with the questioning of the 29-year-old woman, who gave contradictory evidence. There, the police began to suspect that the mother might have had a hand in the baby's disappearance.

After several hours of questioning, the mother admitted that she had thrown her daughter into the river of Alikmonas.
