On the 16th day of the conflict with Iran, US President Donald Trump declared that the end of the war may be near, but according to him, the conditions for an agreement are not yet favorable.

Speaking about recent developments, Trump said that Tehran has expressed willingness to end the conflict, however, Washington is not yet ready to give the green light to a deal.

"They want to finish it, but the conditions are not good enough yet," the US president said.

Trump also commented on the situation in the Iranian leadership, raising questions about the fate of Iran's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

"I heard that he may not be alive anymore. If he is alive, he should do something very intelligent for his country: surrender," he declared.

Trump's statements were immediately opposed by Iranian diplomacy.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, reacted by emphasizing that the supreme leader is in good condition and continues to lead the country.

"He is well and in the government. The situation in the country is stable," Araghchi said.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region continue to escalate. New attacks were reported overnight in Lebanon, where, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli forces carried out two airstrikes that caused at least 14 casualties, including four children.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, known as the "Pasdaran," immediately reacted after the attacks, warning of retaliation and issuing direct threats against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A statement from them says that he "will be pursued and killed."
