New details from the murder of a police officer in Kosovo

The Basic Prosecution Office in Ferizaj, on Wednesday, at a press conference, announced that from the material evidence obtained, it has been able to establish that the police officer was killed on Tuesday evening by two people, in the Municipality of Kaçanik.

According to the prosecution, no arrests have been made so far. The police officer, according to the prosecution, was shot on the stairs of the building where he lived. The incident occurred in the evening, when the policeman was returning from work.

"As is known, last night, April 1, at around 11:00 PM, in Kaçanik, two unknown persons killed a member of the Kosovo Police, Muhamed Lika. At the time of the incident, he was returning from work. He was shot on the stairs of the building by unknown persons, and died from the fatal wounds," said Chief Prosecutor Burim Çerkini at a press conference.

The prosecution has said that work is underway to find the motives for the serious murder.

"We have no indication that he, as a police officer, had any problems with the procedures he developed in the investigations, or that he had any personal problems that would shed light on the motive for his murder," added Çerkini.
Çerkini denied that the murder of the police sergeant occurred during an attempted robbery. According to him, the murder may have been planned.
The acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, described the murder of the police officer in Kaçanik as a direct attack on the country's order and institutions.

The acting Speaker of the Kosovo Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, has also reacted to the case in question. He called for a full and swift investigation into the case.
