US President Joe Biden today authorized Ukraine to use "Made in US" long-range missiles to shoot down military targets inside the territory of Russia.
To date, Ukraine has attacked Russia inside its territory with drones, most of which are domestically produced.
Biden's decision has been seen as overdue, and has been hailed by many war analysts who say that Ukraine has the right to target and strike those Russian military bases from which Russia launches deadly attacks against them on a daily basis.
But the fear of an escalation of the war has also spread on social media, bringing to mind a statement that Russian President Vladimir Putin had made on this matter.
Asked a few months ago if Ukraine would get the "OK" to use high-precision missiles to hit Russia, Putin had stated that these missiles could only be used with the help of the West.
"The problem is that even if they use these advanced missiles, they cannot use them without the help of the West, they need Western experts, they need data from NATO satellites, which Ukraine does not have. These data come only from the satellites of the EU or the USA", Putin had declared.
"The second and very important thing is that only NATO soldiers can do this, they can use those systems. Ukraine does not have those soldiers. If this happens, it means the direct involvement of the USA and European countries in this conflict. And this changes the whole essence of the conflict. This means that the USA and NATO and European countries are in direct war with Russia. And we will immediately undertake any decision based on the threats that harm us", he said.
