A serious event has shocked the artistic community in Greece, where art historian and visual artist Liberty Polyzou, 63, and her daughter Tomasina Kontogiorga, 44, were found dead in their shared apartment.

The bodies of the two women were found by the artist's brother, who entered the apartment with the help of a locksmith after failing to contact them since New Year's Eve. Both women were in their beds when they were discovered dead.

Greek media reports that the artist and her daughter were suffering from serious health problems.

Liberty Polyzou, who had undergone adrenal gland surgery at a young age and suffered from chronic hypertension, had been undergoing dialysis for the past ten years due to kidney problems and was waiting for a transplant.

According to preliminary reports, it is suspected that the girl died of natural causes and then the mother suffered a fatal heart attack. The exact cause of their deaths is expected to be determined by the forensic report.

Liberty Polyzou was a well-known and respected figure in the visual arts and art history of Greece.
