The two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran is in jeopardy. Iranian media reports that Iran has decided to close the Strait of Hormuz after Israel attacked Lebanon. "We will destroy any ship that tries to pass through," this is the warning coming from Tehran.

Meanwhile, the agreement foresees the start of negotiations on Friday in Islamabad, with the mediation of Pakistan.

Iranian media reports that oil tankers have been banned from passing through the Strait of Hormuz, as Israel is striking Lebanon.

Allowing tankers to pass through this strait is key to the ceasefire between Iran and the US.

The Fars news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that while two oil tankers managed to pass through the strait this Wednesday morning with permission from Iran, the passage of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz has now been halted.

The Islamic Republic News Agency also reports that the ships have been stopped, with both media outlets referring to Israel's continued attacks on Lebanon.

The situation is extremely tense as the agreement brokered by Pakistan risks failing within the day, prompting Iran to immediately re-close the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israel's recent attacks on Lebanon.

The blockade undermines promises of a ceasefire with the US, as easing oil transit was a key condition for the start of planned negotiations in Islamabad. Tehran has issued stern military warnings to destroy any ship that attempts to break the blockade.

Now, the fate of global diplomacy remains dependent on Friday's meeting, as the world faces the risk of a new energy crisis and a major military escalation.
