A 90-year-old woman in Munich, Germany, is facing a serious charge of murdering her 77-year-old friend after an unusual fight that started over melted ice cream.
According to the prosecution, Brigitte W. and the victim, Petra B., had an argument after returning from the market, when the ice creams melted in the July heat. When Petra tried to put them in the freezer, Brigitte exploded with the words: “Don’t do that!”. She then hit her three times on the head with a pot, causing fatal injuries.
The incident occurred on July 18, 2024, during a heat wave. Petra's body remained on the kitchen floor for three days before Brigitte notified authorities. She initially stated that they had argued and Petra had chosen to sleep on the floor because of the heat.
Prosecutor Simona Muller said the attack was violent and followed months of psychological and physical abuse against the victim. Meanwhile, Brigitte had cleaned the victim's bloody clothes and dried them, an action that the prosecution said showed she was cold-blooded in committing the crime.
The court rejected the 90-year-old's request for conditional release, despite her use of a wheelchair, citing the risk of her fleeing. Meanwhile, the trial in this case continues.
