Today marks the 556th anniversary of the death of our National Hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu (1405-January 17, 1468).

Gjergj Kastrioti was a strategist and statesman, he led the fight for freedom and independence against the Ottoman occupation, for the political-state union of the Albanian people.

He personifies not only the most important figure of the Albanian people, but also an entire era of national history. The figure of our national hero is associated with the century-long struggle against the Ottoman occupation.

Meanwhile, on this occasion, we bring back the over 500-year-old portrait of Gjergj Kastriot, which is in the Ufizzi Gallery in Florence, the only original portrait with a large mace wound that Skanderbeg received in the war.

The fact of injury is also written by Barleti.
