At the end of May, a month after the completion of the 30,000-dollar social package for pensioners and disabled persons, Ahmetaj was still on the steps of the Prime Minister as deputy prime minister.

"If the war continues and prices remain high, the Government is willing to extend the social package with certainly. Of course, it's not enough, but under such conditions we don't know when the war ends," he said.

The war has not ended, and prices remain at record levels. When the package of 3,000 new pensioners was drafted, families with social assistance and disabled persons Prime Minister Edi Rama said the decision was made based on INSTAT data on basket food inflation.

According to this data, basket food inflation in February was 7.5 percent and in government estimates 25 thousand to 30 thousand leks were enough to cover the cost increase.

The package came into force on April 1 with a quarterly deadline. On 30 June the package was completed and in July the most vulnerable categories from the price crisis received no additional income, despite even the package being given was the lowest among the countries of the region.

But with Ahmetaj, the promise given for extending the deadlines of the social resistance package was also forgotten. The government took the holidays and the Prime Minister's ministers closed work to resume in September.

What they forgot was 3,000 dollars for layers in need, despite the government distributing and sponsoring the news at the end of June that the social package would be extended until the end of this year.

This did not happen and the burden of price increases has already been left fully at the expense of citizens.
