Lying between Radhima in the north and Llogara in the south, thanks to its geographical position, Orikumi should be one of the main tourist destinations today.

But, instead, the name of the small town is hardly mentioned at all in tourist guides and much less by politicians. One of them, Edi Rama, the former deputy who covered the area when he was looking for votes, promised to turn Orikum into a tourist town.

Today, the residents have forgotten the last time that the state laid hands on this area, because it was before 2013. The expectations of the citizens after the victory of the SP were much greater and the disappointment was just as great, especially after the division new territorial, which transformed Orikum practically into a village of Vlora, where the mayor appears only for elections.

Citizens are selling their houses, since the lack of investment in infrastructure, such as roads, water supply and sewerage, have lost their value. The palaces are dilapidated and walled with gravel blocks or sheet metal, while cattle get in the way of tourists.

This is the reality of Orikum, which with the archaeological park on one side and the sea on the other side should have been completely different. This area has been so neglected and ignored by the government, that the locals rightly speak not of an oblivion, but of a deliberate policy.

Questions are also raised by the few visitors who leave before they stay, due to the lack of infrastructure. Who is degrading Orikum and why? Is it the hand of the oligarchs and what are their goals? Why hasn't Rama made any investment to bring this city to life, when investment programs worth billions of lek for urban and rural renaissance have also gone to the deepest villages of the country?

that Orikum is a tourist town that has no lights? Why is the investment of millions of euros in the Tragjas substation not put into operation? Why is the investment of millions of euros for drinking and black water sewers not put to work?

These are the concerns and questions of a citizen who went on vacation and ran away...
