The Italian anti-mafia says that for three years the cooperation with the Albanian law enforcement authorities has been strengthened to satisfactory levels. But, it was not always like this.

In the joint investigations of the sensational files that have sent dozens of people to prison here and across the Adriatic, there has also been sabotage by Albanian prosecutors. This was confirmed in an interview for "Zone Zero" by the Italian anti-mafia prosecutor, Francesco Xianela.

Q: Yes, there are at least three operations that I remember, PEAK, BOSS and SPIRIT. These are three operations, thanks to which many people in Albania and Italy have ended up in prison. But from all these operations, connections are noticed, because even a prosecutor was arrested in one of these operations. That is, the connections, from what you see and have archived, documented, the connections that corrupt policemen, corrupt prosecutors and others have, are they strong?

Answer: We have signaled to the Albanian authorities some things that appeared during our investigations. We have signaled to them, we have sent them copies of the documentation, copies of the interceptions, which showed, so to speak, very serious suspicions against some persons who were supposed to represent the institutions... we cannot proceed in Italy with Albanian public figures, not this happens. This happens in Albania, also thanks to our investigations, so we will see what will happen in the processes that will take place in Albania.

One of the files investigated by the Italian side is the Shpirti file. The Italian side has one regret in this file, which is Mariglen Shusha. In his testimony, he mentions two prosecutors by name, one Maksim Sota and the other Eneid Nakuçi, today SPAK prosecutor./ Top News
