It has been several hours since several online media and social media outlets have been trying to present itself as a 'civic revolt' of Albanians towards attitudes, according to the organizers of a petition, 'blatant and undercut democracy' by Ambassador Yuri Kim.
It is said that the petition has reached over 1,000 citizens' signatures with the slogan "Ambassador Yuri Kim, Enough is Enough".
But the presentation of this petition as a civic initiative with anonymous organisers leaves the shadow of doubt over its true initiators, from Sali Berisha to Ilir Meta. The first has been publicly proclaimed 'non grata' by DASH, while the second is designed 'non grata'.
Both Berisha and Meta have been in politics for 3 decades and as such have passed all American ambassadors to Tirana. With few of them the relations of these two 'dinosaurs' of politics have been normal, with others have collided.
John Weithers was the last ambassador with whom both Meta and Berisha had no open clashes. However, as cables published by Eikileaks a few years ago revealed, Weithers reported on the DASH corruptive phenomena and the state and justice system seized by Sali Berisha.
Alexander Arvizu added doses of the severity of American diplomacy, which in this period was articulating for the first time the need for justice reform. The more this reform dragged on, the more direct the American message in Tirana became to the lack of punishability of corruption.
With Donald Lu the direct American language took on other levels. He was the first to seek the blow of the great fish of corruption and in this direction left aside the diplomat's language and also spoke by names.
Of course, among the names Lu mentioned was neither Berisha nor Meta, but with the "big fish" of corruption it is clear that Donald Lu did not mean common public administration officials who did not steal nor the top of the saying of those suspected and accused Sali Berisha of Ilir Meta.
Lu left on merit as among the actors and factors that caught all the policy to pass reform in justice. His successor, Yuri Kim, came with the clear task of pushing this reform forward.
The push forward means the new phase; That of ending the unpunishedness of major corruption and minimizing democracy, two charges for which DASH has publicly declared 'non grata' since 19 May 2021.
Meta on the other hand is enjoying the protection that seems to be providing the president's suit for a few months, because it is said (still in the form of a rumor) that even the letter across the Atlantic for his proclamation non grata is ready.
However, neither the Meta Presidency nor Salvini the Democratic Party suffice as safeguards against American punishment. This, both of them are clear and apparently already promoting petitions supposedly "dignity", which are indeed petitions of shame.
