If there are still Albanians who believe that the oil price board was set up to protect them and not the oligarchs, the board itself gave them this Friday the best proof of the opposite.

The board distributed a day before the protest called by the opposition the announcement of the reduction in the price of oil by 5 lek and gasoline by 2 lek.

As always, the decision in the media passed as a normal announcement, with most of the headlines on the portals being 'The Board sets the new fuel price, this is how much oil will be sold'.

The news is also accompanied by the full notice distributed by the fuel board, which is actually the board of oligarchs.

Between the lines of the announcement there is also a paragraph, which Voxneës.al is bringing unedited as it is in the announcement:

Referring to the data related to the Platts stock exchange dated 10.11.2022, we have price changes from the one determined in the last meeting, specifically it turns out that the price (FOB/MED $ Ton) of Gasoline is 957, - 4 as of 1.11.2022, $ / Ton, while the price of Gasoil/Diesel is 1023, - 40 from 1.11.2022, $/Ton. The BSH exchange rate has suffered a slight decrease to 118.03 (-1.24 from 1.11.2022).

What does this mean? This means that for 10 days the price of fuel has been reduced on the Platz stock exchange to which the board says it refers. But, in Albania, the reflection of price fluctuation in foreign markets comes with delay...when it comes to decrease and with the speed of light when it comes to increase.

In order to make transparency even more complicated, the Board includes in the calculation formula some other elements, such as the exchange rate, whose effects in this time period have been negligible.

The goal seems clear, in confusing the public, to make them believe that the board's decision-making is transparent, while the truth is different. In this case, everyone rightly suspects that the board would hardly feel about the fuel price if it were not for the opposition protest on Saturday.
