The expansion of five kilometers of road from the exit of Elbasan to the village of Mirakë on the road towards Librazhdi will cost the Albanians 22 million euros.
The tender opened by the ARRA with a limited fund of around 25 million euros was won by the Alb Building company after all the other competitors in the competition were eliminated.
The company will benefit in the amount of 2.2 billion lek, or 19 million euros without VAT. Adding another 20 percent to this tax, the figure reaches about 22 million euros.
The cost for widening the road with one lane is 4.7 million euros per kilometer. It is about works where the road bed is mostly open and what will be done is only the expansion.
Despite this, the cost will be like opening a new road, while doubts also arise in the way other companies have been disqualified by ARA, where some have not submitted complete documentation and others have not met the technical criteria for employees.
In both cases, the companies may have been included in the competition to meet the legal criteria for participating in the competition, while the winner was predetermined by the Albanian Road Authority.
